In the recent development of events following the sad demise of Happy Debbarma, it was observed that a certain religious organization openly made allegations against the Christian missionaries stating that they are converting people to Christianity in the guise of education, worse still that they dared to also distort the unfortunate incident of Happy’s death as religious issue.
We the catholic youth of Tripura strongly condemn such false allegations and appeal to the government to take action against the organization which is clearly promoting religious disharmony by organizing open rally against the Christian missionaries and spreading monstrous lies and making hate speeches against particular religion thus attempting to turn one religion against another.
At the time when the family is mourning the death of their beloved son, it is shocking to see that late Happy Debbarma is projected as victim of forced conversion, which was unheard of when the media picked up the news of the unfortunate incident, its clear that the allegations are concocted with vicious intention of harming the Christian missionaries and defaming them.
We are sad that such kind of rally was allowed to take place even when the intentions were clearly foreseen, yet on the other hand we stand strong in believing the goodness of many people of Tripura, who are deeply concerned about harmonious living, and who silently disagree and disapprove the allegations made against the missionaries.
We hope and pray that the beautiful fabric of religious harmony which always existed in Tripura will remain intact and preserved.
