The long pending case between Royal Family of Tripura versus Government of Tripura today the Tripura High Court overruled the claim of Neermahal by the Royal Family. Two Divisional Bench Tripura Chief Justice and Justice Arindam Lodh declared the verdict in favour of Tripura Government.
Total Area of Neermahal is approximately six acres. High Court verdict states that, during the time of Tripura merger with India in 1949 the property was fully handed over to Government of Tripura the government therefore from now on can use Neermahal as its wish to develope the area.
About Neermahal: Neermahal is a former royal palace built by Maharaja of Tripura Kingdom Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Debbarma of the erstwhile Kingdom of Tripura, India in the middle of the lake Twijilikma in 1930 and was completed by 1938. It is situated in Melaghar, 53 kilometers away from Agartala, the capital of Tripura.
