A Three Day RANGLONG KHOHUI (Cultural Festival) ended on a sweet note on 23rd January 2020 at Seisimdung (Indurail), P.S. Panisagar, North Tripura. The festival is organised by the Ranglong Community of Tripura, Assam and Mizoram under the banner of Ranglong Youth Association. Dignitaries, delegates and participants from various parts of northeast India, especially Mizoram, Manipur and Assam have joined the event to be a part of the grand Khohui festival.

Shri Rajiv Kumar Dua, Dig, BSF, Panisagar Sector Headquarters, Mr. Peter Chhangte, Vice President, Mizo Zirlai Pawl (Mizo Student Union), Aizawl, Mizoram, Mr. Lalrozama Ralte, Chief Executive Members, Zofa Global Networks, Mizoram, Mr. Thuoineingir Aimol, President, Aimol Custom and Cultures, Manipur, Mr. Neibulsiak Chorei, President, Young Chorei Association, Mr. David Darlong, General Secretary, Young Darlong Association, Tripura, Mr. Lalawmpuia Molsom, General Secretary, Tripura, Mr. J. Malsawma, President, Langkaih Group, Young Mizo Association, Mizoram were part of the closing ceremony of the grand Ranglong Khohui (Festival). In this connection, the Ranglong Khohui (Festival) organizer were dismayed with the negative responses from the Cabinet Ministers of Tripura regardless of repeated invitation to be a part of the Khohui festivals and graced the occasion as Chief Guest.

The last day of the Ranglong Khohui Festival ended with a community cultural dance with a number of 20 dance troupe dancing at a time in one venue with a single music track. The programme was followed by Mister and Miss Contest having contestant from across the community. Greeting message were also given by all the fraternal delegates and certificate of appreciations were also given to all the delegates.

The RANGLONG KHOHUI (Cultural Festival) 2020 is organised in collaboration with the Department of Information and Cultural Affairs (ICA), Government of Tripura. It is, therefore, one of the enlisted festivals in the Calendar of the Department of Information and Cultural Affairs (ICA), Government of Tripura. In addition, the RANGLONG KHOHUI (Cultural Festival) 2020 is also sponsored by North Eastern Council (NEC) Shillong, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, Directorate of Tribal Research and Cultural Institute (TR&CI), Government of Tripura, Directorate of Tourism, Government of Tripura, Directorate of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of Tripura.

The basic objective of the RANGLONG KHOHUI (Cultural Festival) is to revitalize, and revive the forgotten Ranglong cultures and traditions. Through the Khohui festival, an attempt has been made to sensitize the youth by involving them in different cultural and traditional showcase, in the presence of senior citizens. As the cultures and traditions of the Ranglong community are mostly unrecorded, the Khohui festival acts as the right platform to pass on the cultural and traditional knowledge of the older Ranglong to the younger generations. Accordingly, there is showcase and exhibition of Ranglong songs, dances, games, cuisine etc, from all the Ranglong villages. Prize giving ceremony has been arranged to award participants in different events. The festival aims at strengthening peace and harmony by inviting different communities to join the festivals and have cultural exchanges across communities.

The organizer and Ranglong Youth Association would like to take this opportunity to thank all the delegates from Tripura, Mizoram, Manipur, Dima Hasao and from different parts of India. Lalnunnemi Darlong, SDM Panisagar North Tripura, Shri Sanjay Das, Chairman Panchayat Samiti, Panisagar Nagar Panchayat graced the inauguration programme of the festival as Chief Guest, Guest of Honour and Special Guest.
